We use your information to run the shop, deliver your order and help you when you contact us. We do not sell your personal information.
Who is responsible?
The data controller is Rat Pak Engineering Limited trading as Pest-Store, company 03401042. Registered office: The New House, Moor Lane, Thorpe on the Hill, Lincoln, LN6 9BW. Information we use and why
- Orders: your name, email, delivery address, optional phone/company details, products, amounts and payment references. We need these to enter into and perform your purchase contract, arrange delivery and handle returns.
- Payments: Stripe collects card or wallet details on its secure payment page. We receive payment status and references; we do not store full card numbers or security codes. Payment providers also use information to prevent fraud and meet their own legal duties.
- Customer service: messages and information you choose to send help us answer enquiries and resolve problems. The legal basis is your contract, steps you ask us to take before buying, or our legitimate interest in providing customer support.
- Security and operation: session identifiers, IP address, browser information and technical logs help keep baskets working, prevent misuse and diagnose faults. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and protecting the shop.
- Records: invoices, payments and related records are kept to meet tax, accounting and other legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.
You can browse without providing your name. We need the required checkout details to take and deliver an order. You can enter an address manually instead of using the address finder. We do not ask household customers for professional qualifications or identity documents as part of normal checkout.
Services that help us
We share the information needed for each service with: Krystal for website hosting; Stripe for payment processing; GBG Loqate for postcode/address lookup when you request it; Resend for order emails; Microsoft 365 and Power Automate for our sales inbox and order administration; Intuit QuickBooks for accounting; and our delivery carriers and dispatch services, including ShipStation when an order is entered there for shipping. Access within our business is limited to the people who need it for their work.
Our product videos connect to YouTube only when you choose to play them. YouTube then receives information such as your IP address and browser details and processes it under its own privacy notice. We may also disclose information where required by law or to professional advisers dealing with a dispute or legal obligation.
Storage, transfers and retention
The shop is hosted in the UK. Some service providers and their support or processing operations are outside the UK. For restricted international transfers we use applicable UK adequacy arrangements or appropriate contractual safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses. Contact us for details of the safeguards relevant to your information.
We normally retain order and accounting records for six years after the end of the relevant financial year. Enquiries and unsuccessful checkout records are retained only as long as needed to answer the enquiry, resolve payment issues, prevent fraud or handle a dispute; we review these records for deletion when they are no longer needed. Security logs and backups are retained for operational and recovery needs, with access restricted. A legal claim or statutory obligation may require a longer period. Removing an active record does not immediately remove copies from protected rotating backups.
Cookies and optional content
The shop uses essential session cookies to remember your basket, checkout progress and protect forms. These are necessary for the service you request. They do not contain your card details. The private preview and administration areas use additional sign-in cookies. Blocking essential cookies can stop checkout working.
We have not installed advertising or audience-tracking analytics on the shop. YouTube is not loaded until you press play. Stripe’s hosted payment page uses its own cookies and similar technology for payment and fraud prevention. See Stripe’s privacy notice and Google/YouTube’s privacy notice for their details. Browser settings let you remove or block cookies.
Your choices and rights
Subject to the applicable conditions, you can ask to access, correct or erase your information, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or receive a portable copy of information. Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier processing. We do not enrol buyers in a marketing mailing list as part of checkout.
Contact us using the details above. We normally respond within one month; if the law allows extra time for a complex request we will explain why. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity. Some records must be kept for legal reasons even if you request deletion.
We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about household customers ourselves. Stripe may carry out payment fraud checks under its own policies; contact us if a payment issue needs human help.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at any time. We would also welcome the chance to resolve your concern directly. We will update this notice when our services or use of information change.
